US has offered Poland a rare $2 billion loan to modernize its military which has been a hub for weapons going to Ukraine
The State Department said in a statement that Poland is a "strong" US ally whose "security is critical to the collective defense" of NATO's eastern flank.
The U.S. government is also providing Warsaw with up to $60 million in foreign military financing (FMF) toward the cost of the loan
Poland has been a staunch supporter of Ukraine, donating large numbers of its tanks, fighter jets and other equipment since Russia's full-scale invasion of the country.
