Texas Boy, 6, Dies After Neighbor Allegedly Attacks Him with a Baseball Bat

A 6-year-old boy in Texas has died after spending two months fighting for his life on a hospital ventilator following an alleged attack by his neighbor with a baseball bat.

Jeremy Diaz was sleeping in his bed on September 11 when his neighbor, 39-year-old Daniel Logan, entered the home and assaulted him and another individual, according to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office. Jeremy suffered multiple skull fractures and brain swelling as a result of the attack.

Jeremy’s father, Arturo Diaz, said his son was doing much better on Saturday and was scheduled to be extubated because he no longer needed a ventilator. However, his condition rapidly worsened on Monday night when he had a neural storm, a stress reaction caused by brain injuries.

“It was the worst storm we had seen, and it came out of nowhere. It was almost 6 hours of hell on earth; I can only imagine the torture he went through,” said Arturo Diaz.

Jeremy died on Tuesday morning.

Logan has been charged with two felonies: causing serious bodily injury to a child and aggravated assault of a family member with a weapon. He is currently being held in custody on felony bonds totaling $650,000.

Jeremy’s father said his son was a bright and loving boy who was always smiling. He said he is heartbroken to have lost his son and is still trying to process the tragedy.

“I was there when he took his first breath and saw him take his last,” Arturo Diaz wrote. “No parent should see their children buried before them.”

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help Jeremy’s family with funeral expenses. As of Tuesday afternoon, the page had raised over $10,000.

This incident is a sad reminder of the dangers of violence. It is important to be aware of your surroundings and to take steps to protect yourself and your loved ones. If you see something suspicious, report it to the authorities immediately.
